The City of Winter Haven has taken a significant step towards community development with the approval of the final plat for the Willowbrook North project. This development, covering approximately 132.9 acres, will feature around 434 building lots and nine common lots, marking a notable expansion in housing options for residents.
A performance bond of $7.2 million has been issued to ensure the completion of essential infrastructure, including earthworks, sanitary sewer systems, potable water, and stormwater management. This bond guarantees that the necessary groundwork will be laid for the new community, which will be managed by a Community Development District (CDD). Under this arrangement, the city will oversee the water and sewer services, while the CDD will maintain the roads, street lighting, and drainage systems.
The meeting also touched on the future extension of Willowbrook Road, which is expected to run alongside the development, enhancing accessibility for residents. While specific lot placements are still being finalized, a detailed plat is available for review, ensuring transparency in the planning process.
In addition to the Willowbrook North discussions, the council approved a grant with the Florida Department of Transportation (DOT) through a resolution, further indicating the city’s commitment to improving infrastructure and community services.
These developments reflect Winter Haven's ongoing efforts to meet the growing housing demands and improve the quality of life for its residents. As the city continues to expand, these projects will play a crucial role in shaping the community's future.
