A proposed pocket park in Silver Creek Village Center is set to move forward after a recent public hearing by the Summit County Snyderville Basin Planning Commission. The park, which is part of the Elk Springs subdivision, is mandated by a development agreement recorded in 2015 that requires the construction of pocket parks in specific neighborhoods.
Jennifer Strader, a senior planner, presented the details of the project, highlighting that the park will include essential features such as lawn areas, benches, shade trees, dog waste stations, and trash and recycling containers. The design for the park was previously reviewed and approved by the Silver Creek Village Design Review Committee in January.
During the meeting, no public comments were received regarding the park, leading staff to recommend approval of the conditional use permit. The Planning Commission is expected to finalize their decision based on the findings and conditions outlined in the staff report.
This development marks a significant step in enhancing community spaces within the Silver Creek area, fulfilling the requirements set forth in the original development agreement. The Planning Commission's approval will pave the way for the park's construction, expected to be completed within 24 months from the subdivision's recordation in September 2021.
