Salem Schools launch revamped Scholarships and Early College web pages

The Salem School Committee meeting on March 3, 2025, highlighted significant updates aimed at enhancing student resources and community engagement. A key focus was the revamped college and career page on the district's website, which now features an updated Scholarships page and an Early College page, both designed to better serve students and their families.

The Scholarships page, developed in collaboration with staff members, showcases a comprehensive booklet containing 54 scholarships, alongside an additional 47 scholarships listed by deadline. This initiative aims to encourage seniors to apply for financial aid, with the hope of increasing awareness and applications through social media outreach. The page is accessible in multiple languages, ensuring inclusivity for all students.

The Early College page has also been simplified and updated, providing clear information about partnerships with Salem State University and North Shore Community College. This program allows students to enroll in college courses as early as their sophomore year, offering a pathway to earn college credits or even an associate degree before high school graduation. This opportunity is expected to save families money and provide students with a head start on their higher education journey.

In addition to these updates, the meeting discussed the introduction of a rotating banner on the school website to showcase prominent alumni, aiming to inspire current students by highlighting the diverse paths of former graduates. The initiative seeks to connect students with role models from their community, reinforcing the message that success can come from various backgrounds.

The meeting also touched on ongoing efforts to enhance communication with the community, including plans for a quarterly alumni newsletter and a donation page to engage alumni support. The district is committed to sharing success stories and promoting the importance of attendance through various channels, including social media and community events.
