Frost Bank proposes new branch with drive-through on West Kemp Wisdom Parkway

A new Frost Bank is set to break ground in Grand Prairie, as city planners approved a specific use permit and site plan during the recent Planning and Zoning meeting. The proposed bank will feature drive-through lanes and is strategically located near the intersection of West Kemp Wisdom and Lake Ridge Parkway, adjacent to an emergency center and existing retail spaces.

The site plan reveals that Frost Bank aims to exceed the required parking capacity, a common request for standalone establishments. They plan to include 10 compact parking spaces in the rear to accommodate customer needs. Despite some challenges with limited space due to gas and utility easements, the bank is committed to meeting landscaping requirements, with plans to plant nine trees, although only five will be placed along the street due to utility conflicts.

Architecturally, the bank will boast a prominent facade with ample windows and decorative elements designed to enhance visibility from the main road. The design includes features like canopies and clerestory windows, ensuring a modern look that aligns with community standards.

City staff expressed no objections to the variances requested by Frost Bank, which include exceeding the maximum parking limit and reducing the number of required street trees. The approval marks a significant step forward for the bank's establishment in the area, promising to enhance local banking options and contribute to the ongoing development of Grand Prairie.
