Crockett has officially joined the ranks of Texas cities recognized for their commitment to the film industry, receiving the Film Friendly Texas certification from the Texas Film Commission. During the recent City Council meeting, Betty Russo, a regional representative from the Governor's Office, presented the certification, highlighting the hard work of local stakeholders, particularly Lisa Clark from the Crockett Area Chamber of Commerce.

This certification positions Crockett among over 175 communities statewide that are prepared to welcome media productions. It opens the door for local businesses to engage with film crews, potentially boosting the economy through increased spending on services such as catering, lodging, and transportation. Russo emphasized that the film industry has historically generated significant local spending and job creation, with over $2 billion in local spending and 83,000 production jobs created across Texas since 2007.

Mayor Fisher expressed optimism about the opportunities this certification brings, noting that it allows Crockett to showcase its rich history and unique attractions, such as the Houston County Museum and the Monroe Cook House. The Mayor highlighted the collaborative effort of the community in achieving this milestone, which he believes will enhance Crockett's visibility and economic prospects.
