The Middletown Township Board of Supervisors meeting on August 14, 2023, featured a significant event: the swearing-in ceremony for two new police officers, Tyler Stanley and Robert Anselmi. This ceremony marked an important moment for the Middletown Township Police Department as they welcomed new members committed to serving the community.
Tyler Stanley, a lifelong resident of the area, shared his background and journey to becoming a police officer. Born in Abington Hospital on Veterans Day in 1993, Stanley grew up in Philadelphia and Cheltenham Township. He has a strong connection to law enforcement, coming from a family with deep roots in the field, including a grandfather who was a chief inspector and a father who is currently an inspector with the Philadelphia Police Department.
After graduating from Father Judge High School in 2012, Stanley initially sought to join the police force but was too young at the time. Instead, he enlisted in the Marine Corps, completing his training and serving in the reserves while also pursuing a career in law enforcement. He began his police career with the Philadelphia Police Department, where he served for six years before joining the Middletown Township Police Department.
During the ceremony, Stanley expressed his excitement about this new chapter in his life and career, emphasizing his commitment to serving the citizens of Middletown. He was joined by family members, highlighting the support system that has been integral to his journey.
The meeting concluded with the administration of the oath of office, where both Stanley and Anselmi pledged to uphold the Constitution and serve with duty, honor, and fidelity as members of the Middletown Township Police Department. This event not only signifies the growth of the police department but also reflects the community's ongoing commitment to public safety and service.
