The Ross Valley Sanitary District is gearing up for a significant milestone as it prepares to celebrate its 125th anniversary on May 28, 2024. The celebration will take place at the district's headquarters, following Memorial Day, and aims to honor the long-standing service of the district since its establishment on May 27, 1899. This event is particularly noteworthy as few special districts can boast such a lengthy history.
During the recent board meeting, Director Megs emphasized the importance of this anniversary, highlighting plans for a commemorative plaque to be embedded in a new wooden bench at the site. This bench will serve as a focal point for the celebration, allowing attendees to reflect on the district's legacy.
In addition to the anniversary festivities, the district will participate in the North Bay Watershed Association's annual conference on April 19 at Sonoma State University. The district has committed $5,000 as a water collaborator sponsor, which includes promotional opportunities such as an ad in the conference program and recognition during the event. This sponsorship not only showcases the district's commitment to water management but also provides a platform to highlight recent projects and achievements.
As the district prepares for these events, community members are encouraged to mark their calendars for the anniversary celebration and consider attending the upcoming conference to learn more about the district's initiatives and contributions to the region.
