This survey, which focuses on school climate and learning conditions, is crucial for identifying strengths and areas for improvement within the district. The deadline for completion is March 28.
Additionally, the district's Diverse Learner Department is offering a series of virtual special education training sessions this spring as part of the Parent Advocacy Leadership (PAIL) program. This free eight-week training, provided by the Family Resource Center on Disabilities, aims to assist parents in navigating the special education process in Illinois. Sessions will be conducted in English on Wednesdays and in Spanish on Thursdays, with registration available on the district's website.
The Family and Community Engagement Department will also host a Parent University event on March 13 at Lyon Magnet Elementary School, focusing on fire safety. Waukegan Fire Marshal Todd Zubek will provide essential tips on electrical safety, kitchen safety, and home evacuation plans. All District 60 families are encouraged to attend, with translation services available. Pre-registration is recommended and can be completed through the district's website.
In summary, the meeting underscored the district's commitment to supporting students and families through athletic achievements, educational surveys, special education training, and community safety initiatives.
