Westmoreland County is making strides in community engagement, highlighted by a recent partnership between Angel Care Community Service and the Boys and Girls Club of the Northern Neck. This collaboration will allow students from Coppell Elementary and the middle school to access after-school programs at the Boys and Girls Club in Northumberland, marking a significant step forward for local youth services.

The community spirit was further showcased during a lively trunk-or-treat event at the high school, organized in conjunction with the National Honor Society and the Department of Social Services. Over 280 bags of candy were distributed, drawing a large turnout and fostering community connections.

Additionally, Polk's Creek Baptist Church hosted a fall festival and car show, featuring 90 vehicles and strong participation from local law enforcement and fire departments. First Sergeant Antoine and the sheriff were present, emphasizing community safety and engagement.

A noteworthy initiative discussed was a new program aimed at reshaping children's perceptions of law enforcement. Scheduled for the holiday season, this program will allow children to shop with officers, promoting positive interactions and community trust. As First Sergeant Antoine pointed out, it’s crucial for children to see law enforcement in a positive light, rather than only during emergencies.
