Significant changes are on the horizon for the Snyderville Basin as the Summit County Planning Commission discusses the future of a proposed grocery store development. During the August 8 meeting, officials revealed that civil engineering assessments have uncovered site issues that could complicate the overall project. As a result, the developers are re-evaluating their plans.

The current proposal, which involves a grocery store, has faced challenges that may prevent the parties from reaching an agreement. A representative indicated a 99% likelihood that the existing plan would not move forward, prompting the introduction of a new design team led by Craig Elliott. This team is expected to create a comprehensive plan that not only addresses the grocery store but also considers the surrounding area, including potential residential and workforce housing options.

Commission members expressed optimism about this shift, noting that a more holistic approach to the development could lead to better outcomes for the community.
