Residents of Lock Haven are expressing growing frustration over ongoing water issues following a significant water break last August. During the recent city council meeting on April 17, a local resident detailed the challenges faced since the incident, including persistent leaks and inadequate repairs. Despite efforts from the water department, the resident reported that water continues to flow in their yard, complicating their property and leading to damage such as a leaning lamppost and an unsightly sidewalk.
Public Works Director Tony Stauffer addressed the situation, confirming that multiple tests have shown no residual contaminants in the water. However, he acknowledged the difficulty in locating leaks in the new plastic piping system, which has hampered repair efforts. Stauffer assured residents that restoration work is scheduled to begin soon, with a focus on resolving the ongoing leak issues.
In addition to the water concerns, the council approved the 21st annual "Wings Over Piper" event, a popular remote-controlled flying event at the local airport, which continues to attract participants and spectators alike. The event is set to take place in August, with organizers expressing gratitude for the council's support.
The council also granted permission for the Clinton County Men's Sunday League to use the Penny Park softball fields from April through August, with the league agreeing to maintain the fields and provide proof of liability insurance.
As the city navigates these pressing issues, officials are committed to finding long-term solutions for the water problems while supporting community events that foster local engagement and enjoyment.
