Charleston County details progress on $90M Palmetto Commerce Interchange project

Charleston County officials provided an update on significant infrastructure projects during a recent County Council meeting, highlighting the progress and challenges faced in the development of key transportation initiatives.

Among the most notable projects discussed were the Palmetto Commerce Interchange and the Main Road Segment A, both of which are crucial for improving traffic flow and connectivity in the region. The Palmetto Commerce Interchange, a $90 million project, is currently underway and is expected to be completed by February 2026. Meanwhile, the Main Road Segment A is recognized as the largest infrastructure project ever undertaken by Charleston County, with a major public meeting scheduled for March 13 to engage the community on its progress.

County officials emphasized the importance of transparency regarding project timelines, noting that many initiatives have experienced delays due to environmental permitting processes.
