Aberdeen PTA launches public school pride driveway painting fundraiser

Attendance at Aberdeen Public Schools is on the rise, with approximately 290 students currently attending classes, a significant rebound following the winter months when illness impacted school participation. The school community is actively engaging with local organizations, including the Dakota Prairie Museum and Junior Achievement, to enhance educational experiences for students.

In a recent meeting, school representatives highlighted the success of community involvement initiatives, such as the "Meet and Munch" event, which allowed families to enjoy outdoor picnics while fostering school spirit. The Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) is also spearheading a new project called "Public School Pride," where volunteers will paint colorful stencils on driveways across Aberdeen for a fee of $25. This initiative aims to promote school pride while serving as a fundraiser for the PTA.

Additionally, the school is gearing up for its annual Read Across America event, where students logged an impressive 37,000 minutes of reading. As a reward, the winning classes will have the opportunity to dunk Principal Osborne in a dunk tank, adding a fun twist to the celebration.
