The Danvers Planning Board has approved a significant redevelopment project at the Liberty Tree Mall, which will introduce a new restaurant building to the site. The proposed structure, a 5,100 square foot facility, will feature a drive-through service and accommodate 70 indoor seats. This development is expected to enhance the dining options available to the community while also improving the overall aesthetics and functionality of the mall area.
The new restaurant will be situated in the same location as the existing Friendly Toast building, which is being replaced. The project includes a comprehensive redesign of the surrounding parking and access areas, with a focus on improving traffic flow and parking efficiency. A total of 59 parking spaces will be required, accounting for both customer seating and staff needs during peak hours. The redevelopment will also reduce the overall impervious surface area by converting approximately 9,000 square feet of pavement into landscaped areas, which is anticipated to improve stormwater management and enhance local water quality.

The project will also incorporate updated lighting throughout the parking and drive-through areas, ensuring safety and visibility for patrons. The Planning Board's approval marks a significant step forward in revitalizing the Liberty Tree Mall, promising to deliver both practical benefits and an enhanced experience for the community. As the project progresses, residents can look forward to a more vibrant and accessible shopping and dining destination.
