Morton Grove approves fireworks and carnival contracts for July festivities

The Morton Grove Village Board of Trustees convened on March 11, 2025, to discuss key resolutions regarding the upcoming Fourth of July festivities. The meeting highlighted two significant agreements aimed at enhancing community celebrations.

The first resolution, designated as 25-10, authorizes a contract with Johnny Rockets Fireworks Display Company for the 2025 Morton Grove Days fireworks. This decision follows a competitive bidding process, with Johnny Rockets previously providing successful displays in 2023 and 2024. The contract includes options for extensions through 2028, contingent on the village's discretion. The total cost for the fireworks display is set at $30,000 for 2025, with incremental increases for subsequent years. Notably, the funding for these festivities is sourced entirely from the Morton Grove Days Commission, which operates as a 501(c)(3) organization, ensuring no village tax dollars are utilized.

The second resolution, 25-11, approves an agreement with North American Midway All Star Amusement Inc. to supply carnival rides and amusements for the July celebrations. This agreement also follows a request for proposals, with North American Midway selected for their favorable offer. The village will receive a percentage of the gross income generated by the vendor during the festivities.

In addition to these resolutions, the board reminded residents to check their smoke detectors in light of the recent daylight saving time change, emphasizing the importance of safety in the community.

Both resolutions passed unanimously, reflecting the board's commitment to providing enjoyable and safe summer activities for Morton Grove residents and visitors.
