The Snyderville Basin Planning Commission meeting on September 12, 2023, focused on public concerns regarding a power line project by Rocky Mountain Power. The meeting opened with a public hearing, allowing residents to voice their opinions and questions about the project.
Several community members expressed their concerns. My name is Mike Egan, who inquired about the voltage capacity of the new power lines and the potential disturbance area around the poles. He also asked whether Rocky Mountain Power would be responsible for rebuilding any infrastructure, such as fences, that might be affected by the project.
Daniel Parker, a local resident, shared his personal experience living near the power lines. He raised questions about the possibility of relocating the poles to reduce noise and improve access for parking his camper. Parker also suggested considering underground installation of the power lines to minimize visual and noise impacts.
Don Brown, representing the PANDRA Master Association, which includes around 1,500 homeowners, expressed support for the fire mitigation efforts associated with the project. However, he emphasized the need for clear communication from Rocky Mountain Power to the community and requested that any debris from the project be removed promptly to reduce fire risks.
The meeting highlighted significant community engagement and concern regarding the power line project, with residents seeking clarity on its implications for their properties and safety. The Planning Commission will address these concerns as the project progresses.
