Illumination Foundation outlines recuperative care project for homeless patients in city

In a recent meeting of the San Bernardino Planning Commission, discussions centered around a new recuperative care facility aimed at addressing homelessness and providing essential services to individuals recovering from medical issues. The project, which is backed by state funding, is set to convert existing motel rooms into a space for patients transitioning from hospitals to more permanent housing solutions.

Commissioner Daley expressed strong support for the initiative, emphasizing the importance of wrap-around services that would assist patients during their recovery. The facility will not only cater to those recovering from accidents but will also provide access to counseling and connections to other support services, such as substance abuse programs. A motion was passed to conduct inspections every 90 days, transitioning to six-month intervals thereafter, to ensure the facility operates effectively and meets community standards.
