Bolingbrook High School celebrates student athletes and outstanding staff achievements

Bolingbrook High School celebrated a remarkable year of achievements during the Valley View CUSD 365U Board Meeting on March 10, 2025. The meeting highlighted the accomplishments of student-athletes and staff, showcasing the school’s commitment to excellence in education and athletics.

Among the standout moments was the recognition of Daniela San Tander, a junior who set a new record for the most wins in the girls' wrestling program, finishing the season with an impressive 36 wins and 8 losses. Her achievements included being a state qualifier and a conference champion, with hopes of further success in the upcoming year.

The meeting also featured the Bolingbrook High School chess team, which placed second in the Southwest Prairie Conference during its inaugural year. Coach Hintzman praised the team's hard work, noting that six players ranked among the top 20 in the conference. The team achieved a new school record at the state level, finishing 47th out of 28 schools, with two players medaling.

In wrestling, Coach Hoville recognized Alejandra Flores, the first freshman to join the girls' wrestling program, who excelled with a record of 35 wins and 4 losses. Despite missing the meeting due to illness, her accomplishments included winning the conference and regional tournaments. Tommy McDermott, a standout on the boys' team, also received accolades for his 36-win season and strong performance in a highly competitive weight class.

The meeting concluded with the recognition of 19 staff members nominated for the Illinois State Board of Education's "Those Who Excel" awards, underscoring the dedication and talent of the educators within the Valley View district.

These achievements reflect the hard work and commitment of both students and staff, setting a positive tone for future endeavors in the district. As the school year progresses, the community looks forward to more successes and continued growth in both academics and athletics.
