Temecula Valley High School wrestling teams awarded for academic excellence

The Desert Sands Unified School District Governing Board held a regular meeting on March 12, 2025, where they celebrated the achievements of the Temecula Valley High School (TVHS) wrestling teams. The meeting began with a series of recognitions, highlighting the academic and athletic accomplishments of both the boys and girls wrestling teams.

Athletic Director John Harney introduced the event, emphasizing the importance of recognizing student-athletes for their hard work. The TVHS wrestling teams received the Riverside County Office of Education (RCOE) Team Academic Award, acknowledging their outstanding academic performance. Harney noted that the boys' team achieved a remarkable 37th consecutive South Park championship and secured the 2025 CIF individual England division team championship, with several individual champions recognized for their performances.

Dr. Steve Hickman, representing the Riverside County Superintendent of Schools, praised the students for achieving the highest average GPA among all participating high schools in Riverside County. He highlighted the balance these athletes maintain between academics and athletics, underscoring the life skills they develop through their participation in sports.

The meeting concluded with a ceremony where team members were invited to the stage for recognition. Parents and coaches were also acknowledged for their support, and the event ended with a call for a group photo to commemorate the teams' successes.
