During the meeting, it was noted that ETSU organized the largest blood drive in the region's history, with nearly 700 individuals donating blood over two days. This effort exemplifies the community's resilience and willingness to support one another in times of crisis. Additionally, ETSU administration acted swiftly to assist those affected by the hurricane, providing over 800 hot meals to flood survivors and first responders, and activating crisis funds to support students and employees in need.

The university also opened facilities to offer hot showers and provided free housing and meal plans for those impacted. Staff reached out to over 6,000 students from affected areas, ensuring they received the necessary support. Faculty members contributed their expertise by mapping storm damage and conducting water quality tests, while physicians conducted wellness checks for patients living in flood-affected regions.

In a show of solidarity, ETSU granted every full-time staff member an additional 15 hours of leave to volunteer in the community, encouraging ongoing support for recovery efforts that will likely take years.

On a lighter note, the meeting also celebrated the upcoming participation of ETSU's marching band in the 2024 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. A send-off party is planned for November 24 at 10:45 PM, inviting the community to come together and wish the band well as they prepare for their performance in New York City.
