King George County is moving forward with plans for a medium-scale solar energy facility following a recent meeting of the King George Planning Commission. The commission reviewed an application from Davis Hill Development for a special exception permit to construct the facility on approximately 14 acres of a larger 83-acre parcel located at 8209 Daisy Lane.
The proposed solar facility aligns with the county's comprehensive plan, which emphasizes the preservation of rural character while promoting green energy initiatives. The project aims to support the county's goals of attracting renewable energy sources while ensuring environmental resources are protected. The facility is designed to be well-screened from neighboring properties and is situated over a third of a mile from the nearest road intersection.
