Choir department plans New York City trip for music and bonding experience

Under the bright lights of the West Geauga High School auditorium, excitement filled the air as the choir department presented an ambitious proposal to the Board of Education. The plan? A three-day trip to New York City designed to inspire and educate students enrolled in choir from grades 8 through 12.

Miss Weiskin, representing the choir, began her presentation by celebrating the recent success of the high school choir at the Ohio Music Educators Association's large group adjudicated event. "Our students did a spectacular job," she beamed, highlighting the importance of such achievements in fostering growth and improvement within the program.

The proposed trip, organized by Steve Taylor of Noteworthy Tours, promises a blend of educational experiences and unforgettable memories. Students will have the chance to perform at the iconic Saint John the Divine Cathedral, one of the largest gothic cathedrals in the world, marking a unique opportunity for budding musicians. The itinerary also includes a Broadway workshop where students will learn from a music director and a Broadway actor, culminating in a live performance of a musical featuring the same actor.

In addition to the artistic experiences, the trip will include a visit to the 9/11 Memorial and Museum, a poignant reminder of history that Miss Weiskin emphasized as essential for any student visit to New York City.
