Milan Schools promote spring sports and announce new principal hiring timeline

Spring sports are officially underway at Milan Area Schools, with students gearing up to showcase their talents in baseball, softball, track and field, and tennis. The community is encouraged to support the Big Reds as their schedules are readily available online.

During the recent Board of Education meeting, Assistant Superintendent Mr. McMahon provided an update on the district's internal reviews, sharing a comprehensive needs analysis (CNA) document that outlines demographic data, staff and student surveys, and strategies for improvement. This document is a requirement for Michigan schools, though many do not have one. McMahon emphasized the importance of this analysis in guiding the district's future efforts.

Superintendent Mr. Gearbaugh highlighted the success of the recent performance of "Seussical the Musical," praising the cast and crew for their hard work. He also announced upcoming productions, including "The Wizard of Oz" at Milan Middle School, set for late April.

In addition to the arts, Gearbaugh noted the district's commitment to professional development for teachers, emphasizing the hard work and dedication shown during recent training sessions. He also discussed the timeline for hiring a new principal for Paddock Elementary School, with plans to present a candidate to the board by May 20.

Board member Miss Pryor extended her best wishes to the boys swim team as they head to state preliminaries, urging community members to engage with spring sports and support their children’s activities. The meeting concluded with a commendation for the board's decision in selecting the next superintendent, with Gearbaugh expressing confidence in the district's future leadership.
