Ed Cowich ISD honors students including Sofia Ramos at March board meeting

The Edcouch-Elsa Independent School District (EISD) Board of Trustees convened for a regular meeting on March 12, 2025, at 6:30 PM in the Administration Building Boardroom. The meeting commenced with a reminder of compliance with the Texas Open Meetings Act, followed by a roll call confirming the presence of board members.

The meeting featured a special introduction by Superintendent Dr. Benavides, who welcomed Sofia Ramos, a distinguished student from the class of 2025. Sofia led the Pledge of Allegiance, showcasing her academic achievements and involvement in various extracurricular activities, including athletics and the National Honor Society. The board recognized her contributions and presented her with a plaque.

The EISD band students also advanced to the UIL state solo and ensemble competition.

Superintendent Dr. Benavides presented an enrollment report, noting a decrease of 30 students compared to the previous year and a 4% drop in attendance. The board discussed ongoing efforts to improve attendance rates, emphasizing the need for community support.
