In a heartwarming celebration at Daly City’s City Hall, the Holy Angels fifth grade volleyball team was honored for their remarkable achievement of winning the CYO Division 4 championship. The atmosphere buzzed with excitement as city officials and community members gathered to recognize the team’s hard work and dedication.

Mayor Justin C. Manalo opened the meeting by presenting a proclamation to the team, highlighting their undefeated season and the challenges they overcame. The team, guided by coaches Jamie Lynn Bagmanua and Elsie Campos, finished the regular season with an impressive record of 8-0. Their journey culminated in a thrilling playoff run, where they faced tougher competition after a mid-playoff division change. Despite the odds, they triumphed over formidable opponents, including the Saint Cecilia and the top-seeded Saint John Eagles, before claiming victory against the Saint Thomas Moore Broncos in the championship match.

The mayor praised the players—Julianne Tumbaga, Reese Ruelos, Camila Campos, Villain Bonilla, Jayden Maneses Rojas, Rylan Villar, Samantha Vega, and Cameron Tabalno—for their teamwork and perseverance. “Winning a championship is not easy, and you all did it,” he said, encouraging the young athletes to take pride in their accomplishments.
