La Porte High School celebrated academic excellence and community engagement at the recent La Porte ISD Board Meeting, highlighting the achievements of its top students and innovative programs. Principal Cade Griffin proudly announced Liz Oliveira and Maz Chadda as the valedictorian and salutatorian for the Class of 2025, both aspiring to pursue medical careers. Oliveira plans to attend the University of Texas at Austin, while Chadda will enroll at Rice University.
The meeting also recognized the success of La Porte High School's DECA students, with three advancing to the Texas Career Development Conference after competing against over 2,000 peers. Senior Kimberly Acosta and juniors Robert Mendez and Nathaniel Kozlowski showcased their skills in accounting and entrepreneurship.

Subscribe for Free In addition, six members of the Texas Association of Future Educators chapter earned state recognition for their teaching initiatives, with one student qualifying for national competition. The board celebrated the Lady Dog basketball team's impressive season, where they secured all-district honors and Coach Alicia Thompson was named Coach of the Year.
The meeting concluded with a nod to the Young Entrepreneur Expo, a collaborative effort with the La Porte Bayshore Chamber of Commerce, which provided elementary students the chance to create and showcase their businesses. The event, now in its fourth year, saw nearly 100 young entrepreneurs participate, thanks to the mentorship of local business leaders.
