Mansfield is set to welcome a new specialized school for students with autism and developmental disabilities, following a presentation by the May Center for Autism and Developmental Disabilities at the Mansfield School Committee meeting on February 11, 2025. The proposed facility, located at 9 Oxford Drive, aims to serve 48 students with a focus on individualized education and support.
The May Center, which has been operational since 2005, plans to implement a low student-to-staff ratio of 2:1, ensuring personalized attention in classrooms designed for small groups. The school will feature state-of-the-art facilities, including a new gymnasium and playground, to enhance the educational experience for its students.
