Mansfield district prepares for strategic transitions as leadership positions are filled

Mansfield Public Schools is gearing up for significant leadership transitions as the School Committee discussed key personnel changes and strategic planning during their meeting on February 11, 2025. The committee is focused on ensuring a smooth transition as they prepare to fill three major positions: the Director of Special Education, the Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning, and the Director of Facilities.

The committee acknowledged the importance of continuity in leadership, particularly in the Special Education department, where ongoing needs for student support and compliance with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) are critical. To address this, they have enlisted the help of a retired special education director, Catherine Zinni, who will assist during the transition period. Jessica, the current Assistant Superintendent, will lead the search for a permanent replacement for the outgoing director.

As the committee prepares for these transitions, they are also looking to enhance community engagement and communication. Suggestions were made to streamline job descriptions and incorporate more robust language around equity and inclusion, particularly in relation to family and community engagement.
