Northern High School marching band celebrates success and community support

Calvert County Public Schools celebrated the dedication and achievements of its marching band during a recent Board of Education meeting on March 13, 2025. Samantha Andrachek, the director of bands at Northern High School, highlighted the immense commitment required from students involved in the marching band, noting they practice four to five days a week and compete every weekend for two months.

Andrachek praised the students for their perseverance and leadership, emphasizing that even those not in formal leadership roles contribute significantly to the band's success. She shared that the band had an undefeated season at the state level and achieved a commendable fourth place at the National competition, showcasing their talent and hard work.

The director expressed gratitude to families, staff, and the community for their support, acknowledging that the success of the marching band is a collective effort. She underscored the importance of community involvement in sustaining such programs, stating, "Without your ability to let us have marching band, we wouldn't have this."
