Pueblo School District honors paraprofessionals and schedules property sale

Pueblo School District 60's Special Board Meeting on March 11, 2025, highlighted significant resolutions aimed at honoring educational staff and addressing district property.

The board unanimously proclaimed April 2, 2025, as National Paraprofessional Appreciation Day, recognizing the vital role paraprofessionals play in supporting over 14,000 students daily. Director Cisneros emphasized their contributions, stating, "Their efforts reflect well on the District and are critical for smooth operations." The resolution was met with enthusiastic support from all board members.

Additionally, the board declared the week of April 5-11, 2025, as the Week of the Young Child, acknowledging the importance of early childhood education. Director Mays noted that these formative years are crucial for brain development and future learning, urging community investment in early education.

The meeting also included a proclamation for National Assistant Principals Week from April 7-11, 2025. Director De Niro highlighted the multifaceted roles of assistant principals, stating they are essential in setting academic standards and fostering school improvement.

In a significant financial move, the board authorized the sale of the Strack School property for $150,000. This decision, supported by a unanimous vote, aims to generate funds for capital outlay purposes, reflecting the district's strategic planning for resource management.
