The Lancaster Independent School District (LISD) Board convened on January 23, 2025, to discuss several key topics, with a significant focus on the Child Nutrition Update presented by Dr. Kimbrough.
Dr. Kimbrough informed the board that the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) has mandated a rebid of the Food Service Management Company (FSMC) contract for the 2025-2026 school year. Currently, LISD is under a five-year contract with Chartwell, but due to a material change in revenue linked to the recent Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) status granted to the high school and BAMO, the contract must be re-evaluated. This change has led to a notable increase in student participation in meal programs, resulting in an estimated revenue increase of $324,842.71 from August 2023 to August 2024.

The rebid process is already underway, with plans to ensure that the new contract reflects the CEP status of the two schools, allowing all vendors to compete fairly.
Board members expressed their appreciation for the financial management of the child nutrition program, with Secretary Morris commending the efforts to save money while providing meals for students.
Following the Child Nutrition Update, the board moved on to the adoption of the consent agenda, which included the approval of previous meeting minutes and various partnership and instructional materials.
The meeting underscored the district's commitment to enhancing student nutrition and financial accountability, setting the stage for future improvements in the food service program.
