Polk County Fair Board proposes 15¢ operating levy for fairgrounds improvements

Polk County officials are considering a local option levy to support the Fairgrounds and Events Center, which could significantly enhance operations and facilities. During a public hearing held on January 8, 2025, County officials discussed a proposal from the fair board for a 15-cent per thousand dollar levy rate over five years. This levy, if approved, would be placed on the ballot in May, with potential tax collection starting in November.
