Forney ISD celebrates achievements with new facilities and successful community programs

The Forney Independent School District (ISD) Board of Trustees meeting on January 13, 2025, highlighted significant achievements and initiatives within the district, showcasing a commitment to educational excellence and community engagement.

One of the key announcements was the successful ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Forney High School Field House, alongside the dedication of the North Forney Athletic Complex and Better Life Stadium. These facilities are expected to enhance the athletic experience for students and the community.

The Opportunity Central (OC) has emerged as a hub for innovation, hosting over 150 events in the past six months, including the Texas Junior Thespians Festival and the Red Raider Cheer Competition. The OC has also gained national recognition, featuring on the Today Show for its positive impact on the community. Programs like Code Ninjas have attracted over 60 students, providing valuable coding skills.

In the arts, Forney ISD received the Texas Art Education Association District of Distinction award, placing its visual arts program among the top 5.5% in Texas. The district's thespians excelled at the Texas Thespians State Festival, earning top honors, while various campuses produced successful performances of popular musicals.

Athletics also saw historic milestones, with North Forney volleyball making its first-ever state playoff appearance and multiple water polo teams qualifying for state playoffs. Over 15 student-athletes committed to collegiate sports during the early signing period.

The district emphasized student health and safety, with campus nurses managing over 33,000 clinic visits and returning 94% of students to class. The newly opened employee health clinic has served over 1,100 visits, benefiting staff and their families.

Forney ISD has expanded its early childhood programs significantly, increasing from 18 to 29 classrooms across seven campuses. The launch of ParentSquare for parent communication and Raptor Technologies for volunteer management were also noted as successful initiatives.

As the district looks forward to the spring semester, it remains focused on supporting students, empowering teachers, and engaging families, with aspirations to achieve even more in 2025.
