A groundbreaking initiative aimed at enhancing student agency is taking shape in Olentangy Schools, thanks to a grant from the Martha Holden Jennings Foundation. This program, which includes collaboration with Upper Arlington and Warren Local Schools, focuses on empowering students by giving them more autonomy and influence over their learning experiences.
During a recent Board of Education meeting, educators highlighted the success of the initiative, particularly at the Student Power Summit held in Granville. Two teachers from Olentangy presented their innovative approaches to assessment and feedback, emphasizing a mastery-based learning system that prioritizes student choice. They were accompanied by seven students who shared their experiences, sparking interest from attendees, including representatives from other districts eager to learn from Olentangy’s efforts.
