City of Stuart approves major site plan for Baron Business Park development

In the heart of Stuart, Florida, the city commission gathered to discuss a significant development project that promises to reshape the local business landscape. Under the bright lights of city hall, Development Director Jody Kugler presented the major site plan for Baron Business Park, a project that aims to introduce 135 single-story flex warehouse units across a sprawling 20.35-acre site.

The proposed park, located at 2601 Southeast Willoughby Boulevard, is designed to accommodate a total of 235,205 square feet of office space alongside 211,680 square feet of warehouse space. This ambitious project is set to enhance the commercial zoning of the area, which is already designated for business and manufacturing activities. The development will feature seven buildings, improved driveways, and a total of 369 parking spaces, ensuring ample access for future tenants and visitors.

A key highlight of the plan is the installation of a new traffic signal at the main entrance on Willoughby Boulevard, which will facilitate smoother traffic flow, particularly for the nearby Martin County High School. Additionally, a secondary access route via Hope Road will be established for emergency vehicles, enhancing safety and accessibility.

The design of the buildings will incorporate architectural features such as canvas awnings, decorative light fixtures, and ornamental elements, all while adhering to the city’s aesthetic guidelines. The project also emphasizes environmental considerations, with a landscape plan that includes the planting of 39 live oaks and a variety of native plants, contributing to the area’s greenery.

Traffic impact studies have been conducted, revealing that the proposed development will not exacerbate existing deficiencies in the surrounding roadways. The project has already received preliminary approvals from the Florida Department of Transportation and confirmation from the City of Stuart Utilities regarding water and sewer capacity.

As the meeting concluded, city staff recommended the commission grant approval for the Baron Business Park project, highlighting its alignment with the city’s comprehensive plan and development goals.
