Kingsburg welcomes Rodney Roberts as new fire chief during swearing-in ceremony

The Kingsburg City Council meeting held on January 15, 2025, commenced with a significant event: the swearing-in of Rodney Roberts as the new fire chief of the Kingsburg Fire Department. City Manager Alex Henderson introduced Chief Roberts, highlighting his extensive background in fire and emergency medical services, which spans over 20 years.

Chief Roberts has a notable history, having served in the California Air National Guard and the United States Air Force as a weapons technician during the events of September 11. His career in firefighting has seen him rise through the ranks, from firefighter paramedic to division chief, most recently serving in the City of Tulare Fire Department.

In addition to his firefighting experience, Chief Roberts has contributed to fire education as a Fire Technology Administrator for the Valley Regional Occupational Program. This program, which serves seven school districts, prepares high school students for careers in firefighting and emergency medical services.

Roberts holds a bachelor's degree in geography from California State University, Fresno, and has achieved his fire chief fire officer designation in 2023. He is also a licensed paramedic and has completed certification as a fire prevention officer.

During the meeting, Chief Roberts was accompanied by his family, including his children and wife, who participated in the badge-pinning ceremony. Following the introduction, the city clerk administered the oath of office, marking the official start of Chief Roberts' tenure.

This meeting not only celebrated the appointment of a new fire chief but also underscored the city's commitment to public safety and community service through experienced leadership.
