Board of Education hires new principals for Babler and Stanton Elementary Schools

During the Rockwood School District Board of Education meeting on February 20, 2025, significant personnel changes were announced that will impact several local elementary schools. The board approved the hiring of Dr. Michelle Fitzsimmons as the new principal of Babler Elementary School, effective July 1. Dr. Fitzsimmons will succeed Dr. Andrea Lockwood, who is retiring at the end of the school year.

In addition to Fitzsimmons, the board also appointed Kristen Forth as the new administrative intern at Stanton Elementary and Dr. Kenneth Peacock as the administrative intern at Ridge Meadows Elementary School. Forth will replace Dr. Erin Knight, who has accepted a position outside the district, while Peacock will take over for Nicole Simmons, who is also retiring.

Dr. Fitzsimmons brings a wealth of experience to her new role, having served in various capacities within the district and holding advanced degrees in educational leadership. Forth, currently an instructional coach, has a strong background in elementary education and has received accolades such as the Teacher of the Year award. Dr. Peacock, with extensive teaching experience and leadership roles, is well-prepared for his new position.

These appointments reflect the district's commitment to maintaining strong leadership in its schools, especially during a time of transition. The board's decisions are expected to foster continuity and support for both staff and students as they move into the next academic year.
