Hermantown City Council approves fireworks purchase for 50th anniversary celebration

The City of Hermantown is gearing up for a spectacular celebration as it marks its 50th anniversary with a New Year's Eve fireworks display at Fickner Park. During the February 18, 2025, City Council meeting, councilors unanimously approved a resolution authorizing the purchase of fireworks from Flashing Thunder Fireworks, setting the stage for a memorable event on December 31, 2025.

Councilor Gelli initiated the motion, which received a second from Councilor LeBlanc. City officials expressed enthusiasm about the upcoming milestone, with Mr. Wicklund highlighting the significance of the celebration as a tribute to the township's transformation into the city of Hermantown.

In addition to the fireworks, the council also discussed several resolutions aimed at enhancing Fichtner Park. These included the purchase of bat and helmet racks, equipment bag hooks for dugouts, and signage to recognize sponsors and direct traffic within the park. The council approved these measures, ensuring that the park is well-equipped for the upcoming baseball season.

Furthermore, the council addressed multiple easement agreements necessary for the Hermantown Trail project. These agreements will facilitate the installation of a new trail, enhancing connectivity and recreational opportunities for residents.
