Fulshear plans 70-acre entertainment destination with hotel and indoor water park

Fulshear is set to transform its landscape with an ambitious plan for a new entertainment and sports complex that promises to be a game-changer for the community. During a recent Economic Development Corporation meeting, city leaders unveiled a vision for a sprawling 70-acre development that will include a state-of-the-art indoor water park, a family-oriented hotel, and a multi-sport facility.

The centerpiece of the project is an indoor water park designed to provide a bright and inviting atmosphere, contrasting with traditional dark and enclosed water parks. This facility will be complemented by a 300-room hotel tailored for families, featuring unique bunk rooms to enhance the guest experience. The development aims to cater to both local residents and visitors, creating a vibrant hub for entertainment and recreation.

In addition to the water park and hotel, the complex will feature a 90,000 square foot indoor sports facility with eight basketball courts that can be converted into 16 volleyball courts, as well as space for gymnastics and dance competitions. This facility is expected to attract travel sports teams, particularly in women's volleyball and basketball, driving economic growth in the area.

The project also includes a family entertainment center akin to Main Event, providing additional activities for families while siblings participate in sports. With 20,000 square feet of meeting space and a waterfront dining area, the development is designed to be an economic engine for Fulshear, generating revenue and stimulating local business.

City officials emphasized the importance of creating a destination that serves both residents and travelers, avoiding the pitfalls of isolated facilities that lack community engagement. The proposed development aims to integrate seamlessly with the existing downtown area, ensuring it enhances rather than detracts from local life.

As plans progress, Fulshear is poised to become a key player in the regional entertainment landscape, promising to attract visitors and boost the local economy for years to come.
