Casa Grande tourism office secures funding and launches interactive Taco Trail program

The Casa Grande City Council's recent study session highlighted significant advancements in the city's tourism initiatives, showcasing a commitment to enhancing community engagement and economic growth. The meeting, held on March 17, 2025, revealed the city's strategic efforts to promote local attractions and events, which are expected to draw visitors and boost local businesses.

One of the key topics discussed was the successful application for funding through the Arizona Office of Tourism. This funding has enabled the city to establish itself as a Destination Marketing Organization (DMO), allowing for a more focused approach to tourism promotion. The DMO designation, which was formalized in September 2022, has already led to the implementation of various marketing strategies, including a notable advertising campaign that reached over 60 visitor centers across Arizona.

The council also introduced the Casa Grande Southwest Taco Trail, a unique program encouraging residents and visitors to explore local dining options. Participants can earn rewards by checking in at various restaurants, fostering community involvement and supporting local businesses. Over 200 individuals have already engaged with this initiative, highlighting its popularity and potential for growth.

Additionally, the city has launched a tourism sponsorship program aimed at supporting local events that attract visitors. In the past year, the program has allocated $11,750 to various community events, including the annual street fair and Oktoberfest, which are designed to enhance the city's appeal as a tourist destination.

The inaugural Southwest Taco Fest was another highlight, drawing significant community support and sponsorship. Despite challenging weather conditions, the event was deemed a success, further solidifying Casa Grande's reputation as a vibrant community hub.

As the city continues to develop its tourism strategies, officials expressed optimism about the potential for increased visitor traffic and economic benefits for local businesses.
