The Jackson County Fiscal Court meeting on November 14, 2024, highlighted significant progress on the renovations of the local welding center, a project aimed at enhancing vocational training opportunities for residents.

The building's exterior work is nearly complete, with only a few minor tasks remaining. Repairs have been made to the damaged rock and siding, and the entire structure has received two coats of paint. Additionally, the screened-in back porch has been finished, along with the installation of a transaction window and replacement of all exterior porch posts.

Inside the building, renovations are also advancing well. The lower level has been fully painted, and new LED light fixtures have been installed, improving the facility's energy efficiency. While the LED track display lights are mounted, they await the installation of low voltage transformers to become operational. The electrician is currently preparing for a final inspection, ensuring all electrical connections are secure.

The kitchen area is set to receive new casework, which is being manufactured by a local cabinet maker, with delivery expected next week. Display case work has also been ordered and is anticipated to arrive shortly. Once these installations are complete, Judge Executive will conduct a walkthrough of the building to compile a project closeout list.

This renovation project not only aims to modernize the welding center but also to provide enhanced training facilities for the community, ultimately supporting local workforce development. As the project nears completion, residents can look forward to improved vocational training resources that will benefit the local economy.
