Riverton City Council took significant steps towards enhancing the city's water infrastructure during its recent meeting on March 17, 2025. The council unanimously approved a resolution to enter into a Level 2 water study, aimed at addressing critical gaps in the city's water system data.
Public Works Director Brian Eggleston presented the resolution, highlighting the need for a comprehensive leak detection study and better information on the city's well fields. The Level 2 study follows a Level 1 assessment completed in late 2024, which identified these areas as lacking crucial data. The study will be funded with a $3,000 filing fee, which may be partially refunded if the application is unsuccessful. The Wyoming Water Development Commission will support the study, ensuring minimal cost to the city.

This project aims to seal 168,000 square yards of roadway, an increase from last year's 116,000 square yards. The council noted that only one responsive bid was received, as another bid arrived late and could not be considered.
Lastly, the council approved a contract with HDR Engineering Inc. for wastewater treatment plant improvements, totaling $470,350. This project, which includes upgrades to clarifiers and disinfection systems, is fully funded through a grant from the Wyoming Community Development Authority.
These decisions reflect Riverton's commitment to improving its infrastructure and ensuring the sustainability of its water and wastewater systems. The council's proactive approach is expected to enhance service reliability and efficiency for residents in the coming years.
