Ducharme and Jones advocate for Unified Sports funding at Capitol Hill Day

Unified Winter Sports took the spotlight at the Peninsula School District Board meeting, showcasing an impressive season filled with achievements and community spirit. Riley Ducharme, a student athlete, highlighted the success of the winter sports program, which included cheer, winter guard, basketball, and eSports. Notably, both basketball teams finished the season undefeated, contributing to a total of 55 participants across all sports.

Ducharme, alongside his unified partner Jade Jones, shared their experience as representatives of Washington State on the Youth Activation Committee through Special Olympics. They recently traveled to Washington D.C. for Special Olympics Capitol Hill Day, where they advocated for funding for Unified Sports to legislators. This opportunity was described as a significant moment for both students, emphasizing the importance of support for inclusive athletic programs.
