Forsyth County Schools celebrates athlete achievements and honors employee of the month

The Forsyth County Schools Board of Education held its regular meeting on March 18, 2025, celebrating notable achievements among students and staff. The meeting highlighted the accomplishments of various teams and individuals, fostering a sense of community pride.

The session began with a warm acknowledgment of the North Forsyth Raiders competition cheer team, who were recognized for winning back-to-back Georgia High School Association (GHSA) state championships. Coach Jessica Wood and the team received applause, along with family and friends present to support them.

East Forsyth High School also garnered attention, with Jackson Moffat being celebrated as a GHSA state champion wrestler. His coach, Jeremiah Walker, joined him on stage for the recognition. Additionally, Emmanuel Pitts, a senior diver, was honored posthumously with his father accepting the award on his behalf. Coach Tyler Martin was also acknowledged for his role in Pitts' success.

The East Forsyth High School esports team was recognized for winning the GHSA state championship in their category, with head coach Justin Hodges present to accept the accolades.

In a heartfelt moment, Penny Major was named the Employee of the Month for March 2025. Major, who works in food nutrition services, was praised for her positive attitude and dedication to students and staff. The board expressed gratitude for her contributions, highlighting her impact on the school community.

The meeting also marked Board Appreciation Month, where board members were recognized for their service. Each member was acknowledged for their commitment and hard work, despite the challenges they face in their roles.

Lastly, the meeting featured an alumni spotlight on Alexa Antonini, a West Forsyth High School graduate and current managing partner at Outback Steakhouse. Antonini shared her journey from high school to her current position, emphasizing the importance of communication and mentorship in her career.
