Nogales librarian nominated for Arizona public library representative role

In a recent meeting of the Nogales Library Board of Trustees, an exciting development emerged for the local library community. Board member Miguel Figueroa announced his nomination to represent Arizona on a national level, a role that aims to enhance the visibility and support for public libraries, particularly those along the U.S.-Mexico border.

Figueroa, who is also the CEO of Amigos Library Services, shared that he will be officially nominated on May 14 via Zoom. He expressed his surprise and enthusiasm about the opportunity, highlighting the importance of representation for Nogales and other border libraries. "It's a great way to represent not only Nogales, the county, but also border public libraries," he stated.

Figueroa noted that the Amigos organization, which supports libraries, will cover all expenses related to his participation, ensuring that there will be no financial burden on the city or county.
