Residents voice traffic concerns over Tillman Place development on Central Pike

Residents of Mount Juliet voiced their concerns during a recent Planning Commission meeting regarding a proposed development on Central Pike, which could significantly impact local traffic and wildlife. The meeting, held on March 20, 2025, highlighted the community's apprehensions about the potential increase in traffic and the environmental effects of the new residential units.

Basil Coffey, a local resident, expressed worries about the displacement of wildlife and the safety of the area, particularly at the intersection of Central Pike and Pleasant Grove Road, which he described as dangerous. He noted that the proposed development could add approximately 300 vehicles to an already congested road, exacerbating existing traffic issues. Other residents echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the need for a traffic impact study before any development proceeds.

John Wallstrom and Kent Hagler also raised concerns about the current state of Central Pike, describing it as a "choke point" that cannot accommodate additional traffic.
