During the Citrus County Tourist Development Council meeting on November 13, 2024, council members discussed the potential of bringing a college fishing series event to the area, which could attract around 200 to 250 boats and thousands of spectators.

The tournament serves as a qualifying event for the prestigious Bassmaster Classic, offering substantial television exposure, including live coverage on FS1. The council highlighted the logistical needs for the event, including accommodations for participants and staff, and the importance of securing a suitable venue. Liberty Park was identified as an ideal location, providing ample space for weigh-ins and audience seating, as well as parking facilities.
