During the Lee County Board of County Commissioners meeting on November 5, 2024, the spotlight shone on Chica, a six-year-old dog in need of a forever home. As part of National Adopt a Senior Pet Month, animal services highlighted Chica's story, emphasizing her long stay at the shelter and the love she has received from the staff.
Chica, who has been at the shelter three times, was presented by staff member Carrie, who encouraged attendees to consider adopting her. "We would love for her to have a permanent home," Carrie stated, urging the community to take advantage of the $30 adoption fee available throughout November.
In addition to promoting Chica, the meeting also announced upcoming events, including a vaccine clinic at the East Lehigh Regional Library and a Check the CHIP clinic at Gulf Coast Town Center, both aimed at supporting pet health. The month will culminate in a Pet Fest on November 23, where pet owners can have their pets photographed with Santa.
The call for Chica's adoption resonated strongly, with officials expressing hope that she would find a loving family soon. "Please, someone, adopt Chica," Carrie urged, reinforcing the importance of giving senior pets a chance at a happy life.
