Council announces calendar events including skate park groundbreaking and spring cleanup

Pocatello City Council has announced several community initiatives and events during their latest meeting, highlighting a commitment to enhancing local services and engagement. A key focus was the promotion of the Meals on Wheels program, which supports seniors in the area. Council members encouraged residents to consider donating or volunteering to help sustain this vital service.

In addition to the Meals on Wheels initiative, the council reviewed upcoming events that aim to foster community involvement. Notably, a groundbreaking ceremony for a new skate park at Optimus Park is scheduled for March 21 at noon, providing an exciting opportunity for residents to gather and celebrate the development of recreational facilities.

The council also outlined important dates for the community, including a clarification meeting on April 3 at 5:30 PM, followed by a regular city council meeting at 6 PM. Residents are reminded that the annual spring cleanup at the City Cemetery will begin on March 31, with crews set to remove any flowers and decorations left by families. Citizens are encouraged to retrieve their items to avoid disposal.

Furthermore, the Compost Happens program will commence on April 1, allowing residents to have yard waste collected on the same day as their regular trash pickup. Zoo Idaho will also open for weekends starting April 5, with daily operations beginning on May 3.
