Magnolia ISD students recognized for excellence in art at NRG Stadium

In a vibrant celebration of talent and community spirit, the Magnolia Independent School District (MISD) board meeting on March 17, 2025, showcased the remarkable achievements of its students and staff. The evening was filled with pride as two exceptional young artists were recognized for their outstanding contributions to the rodeo art competition.

Isabel Hernandez, a junior from Magnolia West High School, received a special merit ribbon for her stunning hand-drawn artwork. Under the guidance of her art teacher, Martha Huntsman, Isabel has not only honed her artistic skills but also aspires to pursue a degree in biomedical engineering at Texas A&M University. Her passion for art and music reflects her dedication to personal growth and creativity.

Evelyn Lapham, a seventh grader from Magnolia Junior High, was also honored for her artistic talent. Enrolled in advanced art with teacher Lacey Griffith, Evelyn expressed her excitement about having her artwork displayed at the rodeo. She aims to excel in all aspects of her life, including academics and athletics, showcasing a bright future ahead.

The meeting also highlighted the commendable efforts of Constable Chris Jones, who received the Teespring Community and Partnership Award for his unwavering support of public education in Magnolia. His involvement in various school events, from grilling hot dogs to hosting bingo nights, has significantly impacted the community, raising over $175,000 for local students and initiatives.

In addition to these recognitions, the MISD communications department celebrated its success at the Texas School of Public Relations Association (TSPRA) awards. The team, led by Denise and supported by Kate Hope and Amelia Lindley, received multiple accolades, including a platinum certificate of merit for their innovative teacher pop-up shop and several Gold Star Awards for various marketing campaigns. Their hard work underscores the district's commitment to showcasing the excellence of its educators and the vibrant community of Magnolia.
